Cost, Insurance, and Paying for Therapy

How much does therapy cost?

My fee is $275 and I offer 5-session packages based on sliding scale needs. To start, call or use the contact form. I respond within 24 to 48 hours.

Do you take insurance?

No. I am out of network and do not bill any insurance company directly. I do provide superbills, which many clients submit to claim reimbursement from their own plan. That is a meaningful difference from paying with no support at all, and it is worth checking what your plan allows.

What does out of network mean?

It means I am not contracted with your insurance company. You pay me directly, and if your plan carries out-of-network benefits you can submit for partial reimbursement afterward. Plans vary enormously. Some reimburse a substantial share of the fee and some reimburse nothing.

How do superbills work for reimbursement?

A superbill is an itemized receipt carrying the codes your insurer needs. I give you one, you submit it to your plan, and the plan reimburses you directly at whatever rate your out-of-network benefit allows. I do not submit it for you, and I cannot control what they decide to pay.

What if I cannot afford your full fee?

Say so at the consultation. I hold sliding scale spots, and the 5-session packages exist specifically to reduce cost.

How Therapy Works Here

Do I have to be in therapy forever?

No. Therapy is a tool, not a dependency. The aim is that you understand yourself well enough, and hold enough skill, that you stop needing me. Some people work with me for a long stretch and others for a few months, and both of those are legitimate endings.

How often would we meet?

Weekly is the usual starting point, particularly in the early stretch. Some clients move to every other week once things are more settled. We decide it together, and it is not fixed permanently once it is set.

How long does trauma therapy take?

It depends heavily on whether the trauma was a single event or a years-long experience. Prolonged relational trauma generally takes a longer time to work through, and a good deal of the early work goes into building skills and the ability to manage distress.

What happens in a session?

We work on what is driving a pattern rather than only describing it. That means I will name what I see, help you build skills you can use between sessions, and often rehearse something difficult before you do it in real life. You will usually leave with something to try or reflect on.

What if I have tried therapy before and it did not help?

That is common, and it is worth going into specifically. Many of my clients describe earlier therapy as telling the story with nothing else happening, or thought-focused work that never reached the pattern underneath. Knowing what did not work is useful information rather than a bad sign.

Do I have to talk about my trauma in detail?

No. You decide what gets described and when. A great deal of useful work happens without a full account ever being given, and pushing for detail before you are ready tends to set things back rather than move them forward.

Do you work with people in non-traditional relationships?

Yes. I work with people across a wide range of life and relationship situations, including non-monogamous relationships, people in sex work, and people in the kink community. You should not have to spend your first sessions explaining your life before you can get to the point of being there.

Getting Started and Logistics

How do I get started?

Call, use the contact form, or book a consultation directly through the site. I respond within 24 to 48 hours, and usually inside one business day during the working week.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. A free 20-minute phone or video call. We talk about what brought you here and whether I am the right fit for it. If that works for both of us, I send consent forms and we schedule from there.

Are you accepting new clients?

Yes, I am currently accepting new clients. The consultation is the fastest way to find out whether we are a good match.

Do you see people in person or online?

Both. In person at my Larchmont office, which is reachable from across Westchester County and the Bronx, and online for clients elsewhere in the states where I hold a license.

What states are you licensed in?

New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. For online sessions, you need to be physically located in a state where I hold a license at the time of the appointment, which is a licensing rule.

Who do you work with?

Adults dealing with complex trauma, narcissistic abuse recovery, childhood trauma, family estrangement, boundaries, self-worth, and parenting with a trauma history. If what you are bringing sits outside my scope of practice, I will say so at the consultation and point you somewhere more useful.
