Skills, Not Just Story
Insight on its own does not change how next week goes. Every stretch of work has a practical end: a skill to practice, a conversation to rehearse, a boundary to try out.
I’m Talia DiPietro, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Larchmont, New York, and I work with adults on complex trauma, narcissistic abuse recovery, and what growing up in a difficult family leaves behind — in person across Westchester County and the Bronx, and online in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Many of the people who contact me carry a worry they rarely say out loud. They think starting therapy means signing up for something they will never finish. That is not how I practice. The goal is to give you enough understanding of yourself, and enough skill, that you stop needing me.
The work is active. We look at what is driving a pattern, name it plainly, and build something you can do differently. Sometimes that means rehearsing a hard conversation before you have it. Sometimes it is practical coping for a day that is already going badly. Sometimes it is working out what self-care means for you specifically, rather than what it means on the internet.
People often arrive here after therapy that consisted of telling the story and nothing more. Understanding what happened matters. It is not the whole job. I will name what I see, and I will ask you to try things between sessions.
I see clients in person at my Larchmont office, serving Westchester County and the Bronx, and online across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. I am currently accepting new clients.
I became an LMSW in 2010, working in mental health clinics as a therapist. I became an LCSW in 2014, and started my private practice the same year. My training and certification in narcissistic abuse recovery is with Dr. Ramani Durvasula & PESI as a Certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician (NATC). I am trained in AEDP Level 1, which informs the way I practice.
The core of my work is in attachment-oriented and relational therapy, with CBT, ACT, and DBT skills brought in when it would be helpful or most effective.
I work with people in a wide range of life and relationship situations, including people in non-monogamous relationships, people in sex work, and people in the LGBTQIA+ and kink communities.

You should be able to tell your whole story when we work together.
I am not building a client for life. We name what you came in for, work on it directly, and keep checking whether it is progressing.
